A quick intro
I've been involved with game UI for the last four years, exclusively with Cloud Imperium Games on their ambitious epic Squadron 42 and MMO Star Citizen. I hadn't foreseen this role and I was more surprised than anyone to discover myself working in the game industry - but, it turned out that UI, UX and HCI are consistent across platforms, and so I slotted in into a huddle of industry veterans and talented designers of all creeds. The StarCitizen game has so many FPS diegetic interfaces it was like making websites, but for only one browser and no breakpoints.

Longer bit
I've been a professional digital designer in one capacity or another for the last 25 years, and before that a foundation in the arts from painting through to ceramics, ultimately going to University to do a degree in Illustration. I think I can still draw... but most of the things I pick up a pencil for are boxes and scribbles for layouts.
Games- my compulsion
I used to spend my lunch money at the Enterprise Arcade in Lewisham on the way home from school, playing Battlezone, Robotron and Galaga etc. I've played the original Street Fighter arcade machine with the punch pads and fractured a finger. When I lived in Rome I played Quake2 with the owners and friends of the local cyber cafe using keyboard only. When I lived in Malaysia, my friends and I would play Counter-Strike almost nightly.
